The defending champions have suffered since the GT captain hasn’t bowled in four games.
The Gujarat Titans captain said, “Nah, Hardik Pandya who can bat and bowl sounds a lot better, than just the batter,” prior to the commencement of IPL 2022. However, Pandya went on to write a legendary redemption story by overcoming back pain and bad play to lead his club to the championship.
Hardik has demonstrated in the past that his batting alone is enough to earn him a spot in the team. However, he shifts into a different gear when he can complement his hitting by bending his back to bowl the effort ball or swing the fresh cherry.
Hardik hasn’t been able to make as much of an impact this year with the bat either. He has tried to take on more responsibility by switching from his power-hitting role to batting in the middle order, coming in at No. 6 for Mumbai Indians. The Baroda hitter has also occasionally replaced Sai Sudharsan at No. 3, but that change hasn’t had the desired effect.
Hardik has nonetheless demonstrated throughout his career that hardship tends to bring out the best in him. GT is hoping that it will happen again this time.
