Hansal Mehta is a filmmaker who pursues story over stars. The director of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Scoop claims there was no pressure to cast a star in the just-launched project.
Hansal Mehta and co-writer of Thappad, Mrunmayee Lagoo, are the creators of Scoop, which was inspired by Jigna Vora’s autobiographical book Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison. The series’ leading lady, Karishma Tanna, plays the ambitious crime reporter Jagruti Pathak, who turns out to be a murder suspect.
