Christopher Nolan, the director of “Tenet,” and Robert Pattinson are reuniting for the filmmaker’s highly anticipated project at Universal Pictures. Together with Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya, Pattinson completes an amazing ensemble.
The production of Universal and Nolan’s sequel to their Oscar-winning drama “Oppenheimer” is expected to begin in the first half of 2025. In the coming year, Pattinson will be quite busy. Warner Bros. want to shoot a follow-up to his 2022 hit “The Batman,” in which the actor will play the DC Comics character once more. In addition, Pattinson is starring in A24’s “Primetime,” a thriller based on the reality show “To Catch a Predator” that will be the first narrative feature directed by up-and-coming director Lance Oppenheim. Early in the upcoming year, that independent company intends to increase production.
In addition, Pattinson’s upcoming film, “Mickey 17,” a sci-fi comedy directed by Bong Joon-Ho, is scheduled to open in theaters on April 18, 2025. As the Korean filmmaker’s eagerly anticipated sequel to his Oscar-winning film “Parasite,” the $150 million Warner Bros. project will probably impose its own set of promotional demands on Pattinson.
Alongside John David Washington, Pattinson played in Nolan’s time-bending thriller “Tenet,” the director’s last Warner Bros. production following a lengthy run that produced beloved hits including “The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Dunkirk,” and “Interstellar.” Nolan’s relationship with his hometown was strained by the studio’s handling of “Tenet”‘s distribution during the COVID outbreak; as a result, the filmmaker decided to set up shop in Universal for “Oppenheimer.”
After main photography on “Tenet” concluded, Pattinson gave the director a book of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s talks as a production-wrap present. This has since become a well-known piece of Nolan lore. A biopic about the father of the atomic bomb was confirmed to be the director’s next project two years later.
The project will be released in theaters and on Imax on July 17, 2026, according to Universal.
