Ella Langley has officially captured the U.K. chart crown. The country star’s breakout hit “Choosin’ Texas” has climbed to No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart published Friday (Sept. 4), marking the singer’s first chart-topping single in the region.
The song’s rise to the top of the U.K. rankings has unfolded gradually. According to the latest data from the Official Charts Company, “Choosin’ Texas” entered the chart at No. 78 in January, moved into the top 40 the next month, reached the top 20 in April and then broke into the top 10 in July. After climbing to No. 3 in August, the track finally completed its eight-month ascent to No. 1.
Notably, Langley’s No. 1 arrival also brings a record-setting run to an end. Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” drops to No. 7, ending its 23 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart. The collaboration still holds the record for the longest-running No. 1 single in U.K. chart history, surpassing Frankie Laine’s “I Believe,” which spent 18 weeks at No. 1 in 1953.
Meanwhile, “Choosin’ Texas” continues to achieve significant success in the U.S. As of Aug. 31, Langley had accumulated a landmark 20 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first non-Christmas song to reach that mark. The track surpassed the previous 19-week record shared by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Elsewhere on the Official Singles Chart, Sienna Spiro’s “Great Expectation” climbs to No. 2, giving the emerging pop-soul star her highest chart position to date. Hugel, Imael Angel and Ultra Nate’s “Movin’ to the Sun” lands at No. 3, while Stella Lefty’s “Boston” remains at No. 4.
The late Dolly Parton lands three songs in the top 10 at the same time for the first time, as fans celebrate her legacy following news of her death on Aug. 25. Her signature song “9 to 5” rises to No. 5 and achieves a new career-best position, while “Jolene” and her collaboration with Kenny Rogers, “Islands In the Stream,” take No. 6 and No. 9, respectively.
Among other notable chart movements, Dua Lipa’s 2024 release “Training Season” — which reached No. 4 when it debuted — surges to No. 18 two years later following a viral social media trend and the subsequent release of a physical vinyl single. Sombr’s “My Body Isn’t Ready” climbs to No. 19, while fellow pop newcomer Adéla achieves a new U.K. career high as “Ain’t In LA” closes out the week at No. 26.
