Apple today released the seventh beta of macOS Golden Gate to developers, arriving one week after the company provided the sixth beta.
Developers can obtain macOS Golden Gate by navigating to System Settings > General > Software Update. Beta Updates must be turned on, and access requires a free developer account.
macOS Golden Gate brings a range of visual and design refinements. Liquid Glass opacity has been adjusted to improve readability, a slider now allows users to control transparency, and updated shadowing helps distinguish active windows more clearly. Apps now feature consistent toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and fewer rounded corners, while menu bars contain fewer icons.
Siri has been redesigned as Siri AI, a chatbot-like assistant that brings together general world knowledge, personal data, and onscreen awareness to respond to questions about virtually anything and help locate information. Siri is integrated into Spotlight, where users can ask questions through the new Search or Ask interface.
A dedicated Siri app is also available, allowing users to converse with Siri and review previous conversations, while newer Macs support a custom Siri voice with personalized pace and expressivity. Visual Intelligence has also arrived on the Mac, allowing Siri to respond to questions about content displayed on the screen, while Write with Siri enables Siri to create text or provide feedback on a user’s writing.
The Photos app gains AI-powered photo editing tools, Safari receives AI-based tab organization, and the Passwords app now offers an option for AI to automatically strengthen weak passwords. Apple has also redesigned the Image Playground app, which can now produce photorealistic images.
