Ella Langley has added another notable achievement to her rapidly expanding and already historic résumé, while also contributing to the current resurgence of women on the country charts.
The singer-songwriter’s “Loving Life Again” climbs four positions to No. 8 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart (dated Sept. 19). The track generated 18.6 million audience impressions (up 14%) from Sept. 4-10.
The song marks Langley’s seventh Country Airplay top 10 — and the fourth track from her album Dandelion, making it the first album by a woman in the 2020s to produce four top 10s on the format. It comes after three No. 1 smashes: “Choosin’ Texas,” which held the top spot for three weeks in February-March; “Be Her” (four weeks, June); and “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” with Morgan Wallen (two weeks, August).
Released April 10, Dandelion has spent 17 weeks and counting at No. 1 on Top Country Albums. (“I Can’t Love You Anymore” was added to the album after the song arrived April 24.)
Dandelion is the first album by a woman to feature four Country Airplay top 10s since Kelsea Ballerini’s debut LP, The First Time, achieved the feat in 2015-17 through the No. 1s “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs” and “Peter Pan,” along with the No. 3-peaking “Yeah Boy.”
Shortly before Ballerini reached the milestone, Carrie Underwood scored four Country Airplay top 10s from her 2015-16 album Storyteller: the No. 1s “Heartbeat” and “Church Bells,” plus the No. 2 hits “Smoke Break” and “Dirty Laundry.”
‘Country and She Knows It’ Reaches the Top 10
Luke Bryan’s “Country and She Knows It” moves up one position to No. 10 on Country Airplay (17.1 million, up 3%). With his 38th top 10, he matches Jason Aldean for the most dating back to his first week in the tier (Sept. 8, 2007); Kenny Chesney and Blake Shelton rank third, tied with 34 each during that span.
‘Be By You’ Holds the No. 1 Spot
Meanwhile, Luke Combs’ “Be By You” remains atop Country Airplay for a fourth consecutive week (33.1 million, up 1%). It is the ninth of his 21 No. 1s to stay at the summit for at least that long. It is also his sixth leader to accomplish that in the 2020s, matching Wallen for the most during the decade.
