According to Apple, the AirPods Pro 2’s hearing test feature will be available in nine more countries with the upcoming iOS 18.2 update: Cyprus, Czechia, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. In late October, the feature made its debut in the United States and a few other nations.
Adults can determine whether they have hearing loss by taking a five-minute test that measures their sensitivity to various sound frequencies. Following the test, a classification of hearing loss and suggested future steps will be displayed in the findings. Apple provides comprehensive details regarding the feature in a support document.
According to Apple, iOS 18.2 also makes it possible to use AirPods Pro 2 as a clinical-grade hearing aid in the United Arab Emirates.
Firmware version 7B19 or above is required for all of the AirPods Pro 2’s hearing health features. When the AirPods are charging and within Bluetooth range of a Wi-Fi-enabled iPhone, iPad, or Mac, firmware updates are installed automatically.
The final iOS 18.2 beta version, referred to as the Release Candidate, was made available by Apple today. The upgrade is anticipated to be made generally available the next week.
