In a Chicago suburb, McDonald’s is slated to open a new spin-off restaurant, though specifics on the launch are being closely guarded.
The new restaurant, “CosMc’s,” is a small-format concept restaurant with a strong emphasis on drinks, including coffee, frozen drinks, lemonades, iced teas, and a variety of energy drinks known as unique galaxy boosts. There is even talk of food and desserts being offered.
The biggest fast-food chain in the world declared earlier this year that it will begin operating a limited number of CosMc locations in early 2024.
CEO Chris Kempczinski informed analysts in July that CosMc’s will have its own distinct identity while keeping the recognisable DNA of the well-known fast-food business, in contrast to the classic golden arches associated with McDonald’s.
In addition to having its own logo and colour scheme, CosMc’s operators have chosen to use navy blue and yellow instead of McDonald’s well-known red and yellow branding.
The new restaurant’s moniker originates from an alien figure with six arms that was featured in the company’s 1980s and early 1990s advertising. Once the alien learns that McDonald’s sells burgers and fries, it leaves its spacecraft residence. Grimace, The Professor, and Ronald McDonald were involved in the advertisements.
Aerial photos of the planned location, which is located in Bolingbrook, Will County, close to the intersection of Boughton and Weber Roads, were obtained by FOX 32 Chicago. These images offer a preview of what looks to be an innovative dining establishment. Chicago is home to McDonald’s corporate headquarters worldwide.
As rumours about what the restaurant will serve and how it would differ from other McDonald’s restaurants spread, CosMc’s signs on the outside walls were covered.
Fox Business contacted McDonald’s to inquire about the new store and concept, but they did not receive a response. At its investor day tomorrow, McDonald’s probably has additional details regarding its development plans and new format innovations.
Pictures of what looked to be the restaurant’s drive-thru menu were shared online by food sleuths.
The reported menu consists of drinks as well as sandwiches, McMuffins, McFlurries, and little sweets.
McDonald’s stock has increased by 8% so far this year, less than the 19% gain made by the S&P 500.
