Prithvi Shaw, whose career is at a crossroads, claimed he doesn’t know why he was cut from the T20I selection without playing against New Zealand.
The pecking order has Prithvi Shaw in last place. It became clear when he was not even given a chance to compete in the Asian Games, which do not include any of the cricketers competing for a spot in the World Cup due to schedule conflicts between the two competitions. The 23-year-old Mumbai batsman has not had the successful international career that some might have hoped for, despite becoming the youngest Indian to achieve a Test century on debut (at 18). They have the right to have high expectations, either. When Shaw was a young cricketer rising through the ranks about five years ago, he was one of the most anticipated players. Shaw never had a sustained run in any format though due to injuries, disciplinary troubles, and technical difficulties. He has thus far.
“All I want to do is treat it like any other game. It resembles the elite games we engage in here. Just a different experience, nothing major. It means a lot to receive an invitation from them. The situation is the same; I must go there and help the team by scoring runs since that is what they anticipate from me. They have obviously watched me perform because they have called me there. They could have something in mind that they believe I am capable of. I anticipate having a terrific time, Shaw declared.
Shaw was scheduled to depart by Tuesday, but his trip was postponed owing to visa complications. Beginning in August, he will compete in the remaining one-day matches in the County Championship and The Royal London Cup.
