Emilio Sakraya (Rheingold, Those About to Die, Fortitude), Omid Abtahi (The Mandalorian, American Gods), Jamie Ward (The Gentlemen, His Dark Materials) and Nabeel Khan (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Strike Back) have been cast in recurring roles for One Piece: The Battle of Alibasta, the third season of Netflix’s series. The casting announcements were made Sunday during the One Piece Day stage event in Tokyo, Japan, following the completion of production in Cape Town, South Africa.
Sakraya is set to portray Koza, Abtahi will take on Toto, Ward will appear as Pell and Khan will play Chaka.
They join the original Straw Hat crew, including Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji), as well as Charithra Chandran (Miss Wednesday), Mikaela Hoover (Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefartari Cobra). Previously revealed additions to the Season 3 cast include Cole Escola (Bon Clay), Xolo Maridueña (Portgas D. Ace), Daisy Head (Miss Doublefinger), and Awdo Awdo (Mr. 1).
What to Expect From One Piece Season 3
In Season 3, after making their way into the dangerous Grand Line, Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew will find themselves facing war in the desert kingdom of Alabasta, the home of Princess Vivi. A rebellion is threatening to divide the country, secretly driven by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the merciless Sir Crocodile, and his criminal organization Baroque Works, who intend to seize control of Alabasta themselves. In a season shaped by steadfast friendships and seemingly impossible decisions, the Straw Hats will have to confront an escalating civil war and a formidable warlord in an effort to rescue Vivi’s kingdom before it is swallowed by the sand.
Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes are serving as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers. Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements executive produce through Tomorrow Studios, together with Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe and Steven Maeda.
