The ‘intimidating’ side of MS Dhoni has been revealed by AB de Villiers as CSK advanced to the IPL 2023 championship with a spectacular victory over GT in Qualifier 1.
With each new Indian Premier League (IPL) season, MS Dhoni’s legacy has expanded exponentially. The affable captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) led the Yellow Brigade to their ninth championship game of the lucrative league on Tuesday with a commanding victory against Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) at Chepauk. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s brilliant knock (60) and Ravindra Jadeja’s all-around performance allowed CSK to defeat the defending champions by a margin of 15 runs.
After Chennai overcame Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1, Dhoni’s CSK became the first team to advance to the IPL 2023 final. Legendary cricketer AB de Villiers has now exposed the ‘intimidating’ side of Dhoni. De Villiers, a former superstar for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), described how challenging it is to defeat CSK at home. The RCB legend said openly about how CSK and Dhoni’s presence at the Chepauk terrified opposing teams.
Dhoni, who is considering retiring from IPL cricket at the end of the current season, will look to go out on top by ensuring CSK’s record-tying sixth victory in Ahmedabad. When the Chennai Super Kings competed in the 2008 championship game, Dhoni served as the team’s captain. During his illustrious captaincy run, Dhoni has led CSK to four IPL championships. CSK has advanced to nine championship games under Dhoni’s direction. With CSK, Dhoni last won an IPL championship in 2021. The 41-year-old has participated in over 248 IPL games.
