In the midst of the IPL 2023, LSG has announced a last-minute substitute for the injured India star.
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who are vying for the final playoff slots in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), are already playing without their captain KL Rahul and experienced pacer Jaydev Unadkat. Rahul and Unadkat suffered identical injuries during the IPL 2023’s opening round, dealing the Lucknow-based franchise a double blow. On Thursday, the Lucknow Super Giants announced the replacement for bowler Unadkat as well as the replacement for veteran batsman Rahul in the LSG team.
Unadkat, who had an injury in the nets during the IPL 2023, is anticipated to return to full fitness in time for the India vs. Australia ICC World Test Championship final. Prior to Lucknow’s match against the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, senior fast bowler Unadkat had a horrific tumble as he prepared to bowl his first delivery in the LSG nets.
LSG purchased the 31-year-old at the IPL 2023 auction for INR 50 lakh. Unadkat has participated in 94 games of the IPL, the greatest tournament in domestic cricket. In 2010, Eden Gardens hosted the great pacer’s IPL debut against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The LSG pacer has also competed for India in 10 T20 Internationals, 7 One Day Internationals (ODI), and 2 Test matches. At M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2023, the Indian superstar played against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in his final IPL game.
