As early as this week, iOS 18.2 will be made available to all users. For iPhone users, the update includes significant changes to the Photos app, improvements to the Find My app, and new Apple Intelligence features.
Image Playground is a brand-new app that will appear on your iPhone’s Home Screen after you update to iOS 18.2. This is what it is.
What is Image Playground?
One of the new Apple Intelligence features that comes with iOS 18.2 is Image Playground. You may create “fun, playful images” with the program using text descriptions, people in your Photos library, and other sources. Unlike other systems where images are created in the cloud, the photos are created directly on your iPhone or iPad.
Apple clarifies:
“With Image Playground, users can create fun images in seconds, choosing from three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. Image Playground is easy to use and built right into apps including Messages. It’s also available in a dedicated app, perfect for experimenting with different concepts and styles. All images are created on device, giving users the freedom to experiment with as many images as they want.”
You can start by selecting an image from your Photos library in the Image Playground app. You can create portraits of yourself or other library patrons. With the help of text descriptions, you can change that image and produce an infinite number of unique image combinations.
As you develop your image, you can select from a variety of themes, places, costumes, and accessories. These recommendations are intended to serve as inspiration for your own photos and were selected by Apple editors.
Image Playground does not produce photorealistic images. Rather, you have a choice between two styles: illustration and animation. You can select your favorite image by swiping through several previews as you generate it.
Image Playground is interwoven into several different areas of your iPhone in addition to being a stand-alone app. For convenience, it is available in the Messages app, for example. Additionally, it will be integrated into apps like Freeform, Pages, and Keynote. Additionally, third-party developers can include Image Playground into their apps using an API.
iOS 18.2 devices
iOS 18.2 is compatible with all iOS 18-capable devices. However, only the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max have access to Apple Intelligence features, such as the new Image Playground app.
It is anticipated that iOS 18.2 will be made available to everyone this week.
