Dr. Patricia Celan is a physician in postgraduate psychiatry training who enjoys pageantry as a hobby outside her work. She recently competed in Las Vegas at Mrs. World 2022, one of the top marital pageants with high-caliber contestants all over the world.
Every contestant has a platform, in other words a cause that they promote as part of their national reign and potentially internationally. Dr. Celan’s dream is to see abuse of any form end in the world, and to contribute as best she can to this cause. Her goal is to become a trauma therapist at the end of her postgraduate training. She has volunteered at sexual assault centres, battered women’s shelters, and crisis lines. And she has been a public speaker about domestic violence during her involvement in pageantry. The Mrs. World pageant was one such opportunity for Dr. Celan to share her platform with judges.
The pageant was also a week-long competition with a variety of exciting events, such as a glamorous evening spent enjoying with dinner and champagne at Elvis Presley’s suite at the Westgate hotel. This is the penthouse suite where the King of Rock & Roll himself spent most of his time in his last several years of life while performing in Las Vegas.
The pageant week involved multiple photoshoots to promote pageant sponsors. Dr. Celan impressed judges and audiences with her beauty while modelling Manish Vaid designer resortwear, gifted to her by Mr. Manish Vaid at the start of the pageant week. Dr. Celan told FabWorldToday, “I love my gift! These dresses are so light and silky. I felt very relaxed wearing it during the photoshoot on a sunny Vegas day, and it was fun to give the flowy skirt a playful flip during my personal introduction on stage.”
Dr. Celan shared that she treasures her memories during Mrs. World week. She appreciated the opportunity to share her platform, she is grateful for winning a Most Whimsical Costume Award, but above all else, she said she treasures the community that she built through the pageant. She befriended all of the other delegates through social media in the months leading up to the competition, and has stayed in touch with them since.
“A competition is a short event, a title is a one-year reign, but a genuine friendship can last a lifetime. I am so grateful for my pageant sisterhood.”
