Earlier this month, Google launched several new Gemini versions in the US, including Gemini 1.5 with Deep Research. Gemini’s Deep Research feature does exactly what it says it will do: you give it a topic to research, and it does it, analyzing the information on dozens of websites and producing a report based on your specifications. Google is now introducing those approaches in additional regions.
More users will have access to the newest Gemini features as Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental, Gemini 2.0 Experimental Advanced, and Gemini 1.5 with Deep Research are currently being rolled out in those regions, according to Google’s blogs about Vietnam and Thailand.
The 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Flash models that are currently in production have been upgraded into Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental and 2.0 Experimental Advanced. According to Google, the two are for “complex tasks” and “everyday help,” respectively. In essence, Flash is a speedier, lighter model, while Pro processes your commands a bit more thoroughly.
However, the only Gemini model that can use the AI’s Deep Research feature at the moment is Gemini 1.5 with Deep Research. Deep Research collects research-request prompts, creates a research plan, allows you to make changes, and then does the research. After searching dozens to hundreds of sites for information related to your question, it will produce a thorough report outlining the findings. It takes a few minutes, and during that time, you can move away from Gemini. You can export the report to Google Docs after finishing the task.
Now available in select regions
Gemini Advanced subscribers in the US and other locations can now access Gemini 1.5 with Deep Research. Deep Research is only available through the Gemini online app; it is not yet supported by the iOS or Android apps. However, Gemini’s mobile web app provides access to Deep Research if you really must use it on your phone.
