Greta Van Fleet drummer Danny Wagner talked in an interview with Drum Magazine, and uncovered how he was impacted by John Bonham and Ringo Star.
On Led Zeppelin, he stated:
“I mean, if you’re going to be compared to somebody, Zeppelin is as good as any,” he reasons. “I’m a huge Zeppelin fan, and so are the other guys, so perhaps that’s our foundation. We just do our own thing while we wear our influences on our sleeves.”
On his persuasions as a drummer, he stated:
“They’re my two biggest guys, -Ringo Starr and John Bonham-. With Bonham, it was the way he could distill so many styles and make them sound straightforward. Even when he did something complex, it still felt simple.
As for Ringo, he was just so creative and unique. Maybe it’s because he’s a lefty who played with his kit set up for a right-handed drummer. He came at his fills his own way.”
Back in January 20, Greta Van Fleet frontman Josh Kiszka has shared his considerations about fans saying ‘he’s copy and pasting Robert Plant’s vocal style’. Josh has responded to claims, and said that ‘Okay, we’ve acknowledged that. Let’s move on.’

“It’s unfortunate they’d be putting that energy out into the world, but it’s their prerogative, I guess. Ultimately, I’d like to think that there’s substance to what we’re doing.
Obviously we hear the similarity. That’s one of the influences of ours. But at this point it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ve acknowledged that. Let’s move on.’”
