The Brisbane Broncos have firmly denounced savages who targeted NRLW player Julia Robinson with body-shaming comments after an image of the three-time premiership champ was posted by the club on their social media platforms.
Robinson got down on the savages on Tuesday after the harmless photo, which showed the Queensland and Australia delegate player in a singlet at preparing, pulled in disparaging comments about her strong body.
Robinson, who is known as one of the game’s fittest players and frequently posts preparing recordings on her Instagram account, focused a light on the maltreatment by sharing the comments herself.
“I never normally read social media comments, or let them influence me,” she composed. “Anyway I simply needed to say that nobody ought to be embarrassed or reluctant to have muscles. It shows devotion and difficult work. I love my muscles.”
Individual players came together for her, with Queensland chief Ali Brigginshaw expressing, “Got you generally (Robinson) – f— ing savages at it once more”, and Jillaroos partner Kirra Dibb marking the remarks “appalling”.
“Nobody ought to be anything by free to competitors that strive to be the most incredible in their game,” Dibb said.
The previous NRL player Issac Luke posted: “Wowee. Man this pi**es me off. Since youse [sic] seem to be potatoes and she doesn’t. Put a photograph up of what you resemble now and let us ROAST YOU!”
The club said the savages’ comments were “deprecating” and that there was no space for such mentalities in the game.
“Julia has been a Bronco since the absolute first day our NRLW group met up in 2018 and we are undeniably maddened by the words composed by these savages,” Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said.
“Julia is a quite possibly of the hardest laborer in both our people’s program, and her reliably world class exhibitions on the field mirror the work she places into her preparation and training.
“That is also the far reaching work she does locally, and the motivation she provides for youthful competitors, both young men and young ladies. Clearly our general public has moved past competitors and good examples like Julia being disparaged for a photograph that exhibits all that is perfect about our game.”
Robinson, 24, has been a piece of the Broncos set-up since the association’s debut season quite a while back when she was essential for Brisbane’s most memorable prevalence winning team.
She made her global presentation for the Jillaroos that very year prior to winning two more NRLW premierships with the Broncos. She made her most memorable State of Origin appearance in the Maroon’s success over NSW in 2020.
The NRLW’s fifth season starts this week, with Robinson expected to arrange for the Broncos in their opener against Newcastle on Sunday.
