The team led by ‘Thalaiva’ MS Dhoni played a huge trick at the auction table after buying players like Moin Ali, who showed his impressive form with his bat during the second test in Chennai against India. Thanks to the superior image and smartness of MS Dhoni, CSK looked one of the most far-sighted sides during the IPL auction. The team released players namely, Kedar Jadhav, Piyush Chawla, Murali Vijay, Monu Kumar, and Harbhajan Singh, during player retention.
Although the Chennai Super Kings won the Indian Premier League in 2010, 2011, and 2018, they finished last in IPL 2020. And as always, the wooden spoon has been talked about about the future of the franchise and whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s days at the head of a team that has become synonymous with him are over. But you won’t find a better skipper than MSD if the memo turns the last place into first place in a matter of months, right?’
During IPL 2021, MS Dhoni chose to strengthen the CSK team with some smart purchases. In the batting department, there are seasoned activists like Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, and (surprise surprise) Cheteshwar Pujara. Ravindra Jadeja has gone stratospheric from a utility player to a versatile star that any skipper would love to have on their squad.
