The Chicago area is witnessing its first reports of total snowfall as a winter storm moves through the area.
One of the regions most severely affected by the snow was Kane County. Officials said that Elburn and Hampshire both recorded five inches of snow, while Wayne reported 6.3 inches.
DeKalb officials estimate that about six inches of snow fell during the storm, while Yorkville in Kendall County recorded 5.5 inches.
3.2 inches of snow were recorded at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport during the storm. According to officials, the airport also had to start a ground stop for about an hour because of the thick layer of snow and ice on the airfield.
The NWS stated that Midway Airport recorded 3.4 inches of snowfall during the storm.
The snow caused the city’s airports to cancel over 200 flights, according to officials.
