Votte Hall is an r&b singer who has attained billboard success and is passionate about the music he makes. He has been in the entertainment industry since he was a late teenager; however, Hall believes that he did not start making music professionally until he was around 24. Hall started as a computer engineering major in college. He then transferred to the Art Institute of Atlanta in order to get
closer to Atlanta’s music scene which was flourishing at the time. During his college years, Hall was employed as an assistant at Sho’nuff Records, And then later started working at Dallas Austin Recording Projects (DARP). He was able to meet Montsho Eshe, a former member of the 2x Grammy award-winning hip hop group called “Arrested Development,” as a result of his work life. Eshe decided to develop Hall as an artist. Effective artist development allowed Hall to then learn how to properly hold a microphone, how to make eye contact with members of the audience while performing on stage, and how to conduct oneself in an interview. Hall truly appreciates the years he spent in artist
development, and he realizes that not many other artists can also say that they were professionally trained. Hall’s time spent with Sho’nuff allowed him to meet plenty of local Atlanta artists and other music industry officials. His experiences allowed him to learn
from the mistakes of many artists he came into contact with, and he leveraged the connections he made so that he would have a strong support group by the time he decided to take his music-making ability to the next level. Hall was also able to learn about radio promoters and how to operate a record label. Although he did not have the financial means initially, Hall was set in his ability to form his label once he started receiving sponsorships.
Hall also describes what the music-making process is like for him. He is an artist whose style consists of soulful hip hop mixed in with r&b. He prefers being in the studio alongside a producer while a producer is creating a beat. Occasionally Hall will have beats sent directly to him which he can write lyrics to, but this is slightly less effective for Hall’s
creativity. Oftentimes, Hall will already have the melody to a potential song formulated in his mind. Once Hall can play the melody on the piano for his producer, the rest is history
