The West Indies have made one alteration to their lineup for the second Test, which will begin on July 20 at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval, after suffering a demoralizing loss to India in the first Test that left skipper Kraigg Brathwaite distraught. Raymon Reifer, a left-handed batsman who had two hits when batting at No. 3 in the first game of the series, was benched for the second Test. Desmond Haynes, the selection chairman for the West Indies, made the decision to give bowling all-arounder Kevin Sinclair his first Test summons. Reifer, though, will stay with the team as a backup in case of injury.
From seven one-day internationals, a well-known off-spinner named Sinclair has taken 11 wickets. In 18 first-class matches, Sinclair has averaged 29 with the bat and 23.98 with the ball. The Guyana cricketer performed well in the four-day matches against Bangladesh A earlier this year, finishing with 13 wickets in three games to lead the team in wicket-taking. He also participated in the ODI team for the World Cup qualifying matches.
West Indies didn’t put on a stronger performance in the second innings; they were defeated. Ashwin took seven wickets to dismiss the bumbling hosts for 130 runs in just over an hour and a half.
The second Test between India and the West Indies will be the 100th overall.
