This cold winter, add another indoor activity to your schedule: the Art Institute’s December free days have been announced.
Residents of Illinois are entitled to free Monday, Thursday, and Friday visit to the Art Institute through December 22. When placing an online ticket reservation, residents can confirm their residency by entering their ZIP code in the billing address field.
Tickets are also available to residents of Illinois for free at the entrance desk the day of the visit.
Illinois citizens can visit the Art Institute for free on the following days starting on November 27:
- Nov. 30, Dec. 1
- Dec. 4, 7 and 8
- Dec. 11, 14 and 15
- Dec. 18, 21 and 22
Chicagoans under the age of 18, active-duty service members, University Partners, and others are admitted free of charge to the Art Institute.
You won’t want to miss a few of the displays before they disappear. Picasso: Drawing From Life presents the artist’s drawings, which offer a fresh viewpoint on his iconic Synthetic Cubist style.
Among Friends and Rivals: Caravaggio in Rome showcases the dramatic canvases created by the Italian artist in the early 17th century, and it will be closing on December 31.
The exhibition by French sculptor Camille Claudel includes more than sixty works from the 19th century that violate the conventions of creativity in a sector dominated by men.
