As the past few years have shown us, we live in extremely volatile times, which is making a lot of young entrepreneurs and potential business owners extremely wary about starting their new proposed business. And while such a reaction is understandable, it’s also, ultimately, wrong. It’s important, perhaps now more than ever, to focus on sustainability, and to build up a brand that can last, and that can offer you some security, in times of hardship.
Justin J. Allen is a living example of that. He is the leader of not one, but several, successful companies, and takes his position as a mentor to young entrepreneurs very seriously.
A bit of background…Who is Justin J. Allen?
Allen first came onto the entrepreneurial scene back in 2013, when he launched his first company, Executive Security Services (ESS) with his partners, which he then built up into a multi-million-dollar company. He worked with several high-end clients and managed to make a name for himself in the business world.
While for some, that might’ve been enough, for Allen, it was just the beginning. He went on to found DA Method Sports Agency (a sports agency representing athletic talent), and DA Method Apparel (a classy outfit providing fitness apparel to established athletes, and amateurs alike) with his partners help in both.
And now, in 2021, he’s stepping onto the scene yet again with his exciting new bar, which just opened up in Washington, DC, the Premier Lounge. The Premier Lounge is set to be a steppingstone for local creatives, and a place for artists of all stripes to display their talent. It’s also set to partner with the Premier Cutz barbershop, which is opening up just above the bar in the near future.
So, why does Allen think it’s a good idea to start your own business?
Well, it might be said that the answer is obvious, judging by Allen’s several successes. Yet Allen understands that success is a volatile thing, and a deeply personal aspect, influenced by several factors. Still, he reckons the pros outweigh the cons, and is encouraging young black men to start their very own business, which has a number of benefits.
“You can create your own schedule. You can decide what business you want to create; you have the ability to provide,” says Allen, describing the aspects he loves best about his job.
Of course, he’s not oblivious of the many difficulties posed by entrepreneurial life.
“Every day is different, it is not a typical 9-5 job,” Allen tells us. And yet, “in every business listed we have the ability to uplift that individual in a positive way,”, and ultimately, “assisting the community in a positive way to see smiles on kids, and families faces” is what makes it all worthwhile for Allen.
This is why, in more recent years, Justin J. Allen has focused his attention on shepherding young entrepreneurs, particularly young black men, guiding them towards business success and much-needed financial independence.
