Have you ever felt a sudden lack of motivation? I’m sure you must have; actually, we all feel that way sometimes. And there are several reasons we blame, such as financial problems, job-related problems, relational issues, loneliness, etc. Hardly have we ever thought that the food could also be a reason for lack of motivation. Yes, our food can be one reason for our sudden demotivation. I am not saying this on my own; I got to know this via a video that I watched a while back—so I thought to share my experiences with you all.
The video is shared by Dr. Biprajit Parbat, famously known as the “Good Life Evangelist.” The video is titled “Bad Choice Of Food Robs Your Motivation.” The title itself was quite enticing; that made me dig in a little more. Of course, I also feel fluctuated motivation sometimes. And trust me, it becomes tough to figure out the cause of the sudden dip in motivation level.
In this video, Dr. Parbat is explaining how your food choices can rob your motivation. He says, “If you take food with high fiber carbohydrate, protein and with an essential fatty acid, then you can clearly see that the fluctuation of blood sugar is very much less and the sugar level of blood is also persisting for more than 4 hours. It delays our cravings for food, and it creates a better-motivated self.”
According to him, refined sugar is the main culprit that robs your motivation. He says, “If there is a sharp rise of blood sugar followed by insulin action and sharp fall of blood sugar which happens when you take refined sugar. Your dopamine in the brain & your motivation also go up and go down. These fluctuate very high. You feel foggy after an hour of taking refined sugar. It doesn’t happen if your food is having high fiber carbohydrate, essential amino acids, and essential fatty acids.”
