Samsung Electronics is scheduled to release its new foldable phones next month, with performance on par with the Galaxy S series’ top-tier Ultra model.
In a newsroom article titled “Unfolding the Ultra Experience,” published on June 4, Samsung Electronics said, “Larger screen, better camera, more powerful performance, more diverse ways to connect and create. Users want all these experiences in the palm of their hand.” They added, “Samsung Electronics has consistently listened to these consumer expectations and aims to present an ‘Ultra Experience’ that redefines daily interactions, going beyond a simple combination of specs and features.”
In the accompanying video, a picture of Samsung’s Z Fold foldable phone was shown, unfolding and folding again while releasing a blue light. According to Samsung’s description, “From precise hardware and powerful performance to AI optimized for the form factor, everything users expect from ‘Ultra’ is packed into this product.”
They went on to say that AI makes commonplace activities like messaging, browsing, and gaming more user-specific, portable, and efficient. The reference to Samsung’s top-performing flagship model, the “Ultra,” in relation to the foldable phone raises the possibility of a major performance boost in the upcoming Z Fold.
Interestingly, compared to earlier Fold models, the new Fold’s folded form in the video looks less elongated and more like a bar-type smartphone, like the Galaxy S series.
The new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7, will be unveiled at the company’s Unpacked event in New York City early next month. This is Samsung’s first Unpacked event in New York since the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 were unveiled in August 2022, which was three years ago.
Samsung’s System LSI division created the Exynos 2500, an application processor (AP) that will be included in the Korean version of the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
