With Game of Thrones totally, completely finished (sob) a great deal of everybody are searching for a new series to get stuck into.
Enter HBO, who have worked together with the BBC for a brand new TV adaptation of Philip Pullman’s book series His Dark Materials – and the first trailer has quite recently landed.
The whole series (that is every one of the three books) has been transformed into a TV series of a similar name.
The franchise was immensely well known with children and youngsters in the late nineties, and was previously adapted into a (not effective) film in 2007 featuring Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman.
The books follow the adventures of two kids, Lyra Belcaqua and Will Parry, as they make travel through a series of parallel universes.
Pullman’s fans will be charmed with the new adaptation if the trailer is anything to go by, as it gives them a first glimpse at James McAvoy as Lord Asriel close by witches, demons and talking polar bears.
The story follows the adventures of Lyra (played by Dafne Keen), an orphan who is searching for her companion who has been kidnapped. That quest takes her to different lands in a world where individuals’ spirits show themselves as shape-shifting creatures called daemons.
The first season, as found in the above trailer, depends on the first book, entitled Northern Lights. A few people are calling it “Game of Thrones for kids”, which could simply be down to the planning of the trailer’s release. In any case, it’s certainly justified regardless of a shot, unquestionably in case they are a devotee of the books – possibly the show will get everything right that the film couldn’t figure out how to?
The series will debut in late 2019, so everybody are apprehensive people will need to hold up to that point to discover more. Different books in the series, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, will probably be investigated in the up and coming seasons.
