Review of Rocket Boys season 2: This season of the popular SonyLiv show is quite boring to watch because of a few subpar performances and some poor writing.
The Rocket Boys’ comeback is fairly unimpressive due to made-up antagonists and a larger-than-usual serving of Bollywood-style flavouring. Despite having a tale that is absolutely captivating and a pitch-perfect Jim Sarbh as Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, the second season of the show falls short of its predecessor’s brilliance. Just partially at fault are the poor supporting cast members’ performances.
We must not forget the lacklustre Indira Gandhi while discussing the dismal extra cast. Mrs. Gandhi is not made up of an afro with a grey patch and a white cotton saree. Charu Shankar, who plays the former PM in the series, does not successfully carry her charisma, powerful stature or even the manner of speaking. The character rarely seems human with her wooden delivery and expressions.
Even if season 2 of Rocket Boys may not be as good as season 1, it is still one of the best shows being produced on Indian OTT at the moment. Rarely does a series combine such outstanding production design, devotion to aesthetics, and excellent music. Rocket Boys continues to be a shining example of how to never compromise on quality in a world when Hindi television shows and movies still struggle with dubbing. Just watch it to hear the great title tune a couple more times, if nothing else.
