Samsung revealed at CES 2025 that it will be introducing a well-liked feature from its phones and tablets into its TVs.
As promised, Live Translate provides users with real-time translation for live broadcasts. Although the exact language at the time of writing is unknown, the functionality will function in seven distinct languages. Instead of listening to the audio directly, the system now translates the closed captions on a broadcast.
Early in 2024, Live Translate was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S24. On the smartphone side, it presently supports 13 languages, which is about twice as many as the TV version when it launches.
Additionally, the company is introducing AI-based Voice Removal with Audio Subtitles, a feature it says is targeted at the community of people with visual impairments. Samsung says that the new feature “will isolate voices, analyze subtitles, and adjust reading speed for a seamless experience.”
For the 2025 TV line, both of these features are being included. Whether Samsung will provide any backward compatibility for older televisions is yet unknown.
