Three years after calling it quits on the international cricket stage, MS Dhoni is still one of, if not the hottest, players in the Indian Premier League. Why else would he not be? Since his international retirement, Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to two IPL championships, with the IPL 2023 triumph serving as the record-tying fifth. What else? Dhoni has scored at a strike rate of 181, which is his best ever, while primarily batting at No. 7 or 8 this year. He did not bat enough balls or score a lot of runs, but he had an impact every time he came to bat. Isn’t that a finisher’s job, after all?
He is physically fit and didn’t miss any games throughout the IPL 2023. Making a comeback is challenging once you reach a certain age. However, if that passion is still present, knowing Dhoni, he will train. Even though match practise is crucial, I have no doubts he will succeed.
